CDS works with carriers on your behalf to streamline scheduling and minimize carrier dwell time at our facilities. This is all part of the transportation management process we provide our customers.
Relationships and Systems
CDS has pre-existing relationships with many full truckload, less-than-truckload, and parcel carriers. CDS’ systems can interface with carriers via client transportation management systems, direct EDI, automated reports, or through specialized interfaces, including those developed for FedEx and UPS.
CDS provides on-site resources to schedule transportation services in-line with our client’s routing guidelines for freight cost optimization. CDS offers EDI service for timely advance shipment notification, and we are experienced in maintaining TMS and customer web-portal databases.
Drop Trailer and Pre-Load Programs
CDS has established successful programs with carriers to allow a trailer to be dropped at a CDS yard or facility for deferred unloading as well as pre-loading for a future order. This dramatically reduces dwell time for a driver and helps the carrier to maintain its trailer inventory efficiently.
CDS personnel inspect trailers for proper safety and environmental conditions for both inbound receipts and outbound shipments. Appropriate documentation (including image files) can be prepared and emailed with inspection results.
CDS offers a freight brokerage service to ensure optimized transportation providers are selected based on client shipping requirements.
