Shipping & Delivery

E-Commerce Shipping and Delivery Services from CDS Logistics

At CDS, our systems and procedures are set up to ensure that the right amount of product is available for shipment when needed, while still allowing for flexibility in the interaction with carriers. CDS also has the capability to print customized labels so that orders can be accurately received in a consignee’s tracking system.

Shipping Online Orders

Our Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) technology receives online orders immediately, resulting in fast creation, scheduling and shipment of orders. This technology is the hub of e-commerce fulfillment at CDS, offering full inventory, transportation and warehouse movement reporting.

3PL Systems

CDS maintains relationships with many full truckload, less-than-truckload, and parcel shipping carriers. Our systems can also interface with carriers via a client Transportation Management System (TMS), automated reports, or through specialized interfaces such as those developed for FedEx and UPS.

Loading Flexibility – Live & Pre-Loads

Orders and consolidated loads can be loaded live or pre-loaded onto trailers based upon the needs of the client, carrier or consignee, offering greater flexibility for CDS customers.

Real-Time Product Checking

Products on orders are continuously checked for attributes such as date and marketing hold. Additionally, product shipping on an order is checked against an assigned door location for that particular order. Any check that fails will immediately prevent the order from shipping to maintain accuracy.

Shipping Documentation

Along with standard Bills of Lading (or Master Bills), CDS can provide client-formatted bills of lading or industry-standard formats such as the VICS Bill of Lading.

Product Labeling

Products can be labeled and barcoded to meet a consignee need. A primary example of this is the UCC-128 label used on pallets and cases in conjunction with an Advance Ship Notice EDI transaction.

Advance Ship Notification

CDS can send updates and automated transactions to its clients or directly to consignees for notification that orders have shipped. Information on these transactions can correspond to information pre-printed on labels attached to products to allow for automated receiving at the destination location.

Key Performance Indicators for Shipping

CDS measures common shipping Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including shipping accuracy by line item and order, on-time vs. early or delayed, and carrier dwell time, also known as detention measurement.

Transportation Management

To ensure the most efficient delivery process for our clients, we work with carriers to seamlessly organize scheduling, pre-loading, inspections and more. Our transportation management services create a successful, stress-free supply chain.

Our Delivery Promise

CDS never forgets the human element in every interaction with our clients. We can customize solutions to suit your delivery needs and will work hard to satisfy both you and your customers through our shipping and delivery offerings.
